“Bank jugging” is a type of robbery where a suspect watches people at a credit union, bank, ATM, ITM, or check-cashing location. 

When the person leaves to go to their next location, the suspect follows and attempts to steal the cash. 
 

How to Protect Yourself from Bank Jugging

• Pay attention to your surroundings, especially if someone is lurking nearby with no reason to be there
• Don’t distract yourself with your phone, wearing earbuds, or anything else
• Secure your cash in your bag or wallet before leaving the counter or ATM/ITM
• Lock your doors as soon as you enter your vehicle
• Never leave money inside your vehicle
• Check to see if any vehicles follow you out of the parking lot 

While you are at a branch, you can always let a team member know if you see anything suspicious. 

If you believe you are being followed after leaving a financial institution, call 911 or drive to the nearest police station or fire/EMS station.
